FABREGAS WAS MY IDOL – ODEGAARD

New Arsenal player Martin Odegaard has revealed that ex-Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas was one of his idols. Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaardtalked about ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas in his first interview as an Arsenal player.


Norwegian international Martin Odegaard has signed for Arsenal on loan from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.Martin Odegaard had to leave Real Madrid in this January transfer window to play regular first team football.

The 22-year-old played nine times for Real Madrid in the first half of the season following his return from an impressive loan spell at fellow Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad last season. Martin Odegaard scored seven times for Real Sociedad during the course of the last campaign and was one of the brightest young players in the league. Real Sociedad wanted to sign Martin Odegaard on loan again this month before Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta intervened for the North London giants. In the end, the Real Madrid loanee opted for Arsenal ahead of Real Sociedad and the other interested clubs. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta played a big part in his loan move to North London. Arsenalannounced the Martin Odegaard deal earlier this week.
The Gunners have signed Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid till the end of the season but they don't have an option or an obligation to buy the Norwegian international player. On Cesc Fabregas, Martin Odegaard said he loved watching the Spaniard with his ability to provide assists and also score goals. Cesc Fabregas came to Arsenal as a teenager while Arsene Wenger was the Gunners boss in the summer of 2003. The Gunners signed Cesc Fabregas from the famed La Masia Academy at Barcelona and he went on to captain the North Londoners. Cesc Fabregas was at Arsenal until 2011 when he left the club to return to his boyhood team Barcelona.
