Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has hailed Olivier Giroud as the world’s best target man after his contribution towards his hat-trick against Cardiff City. Hazard secured his first hat-trick for the Blues since 2014 as they beat the Bluebirds by a 4-1 scoreline and Giroud played a major part contributing a couple of assists.
Speaking after the game, Hazard was full of praise for the French World Cup winner who has already contributed three assists to the club’s cause this term, he said: “Olivier’s a target man, maybe the best in the world; I think so. When he gets the ball he can hold the ball and we can go in deep with him, so for us it’s a pleasure to play with him. When Alvaro (Morata) was playing it’s completely different, he’s a different player than Olivier, but they both have great qualities, so I’m happy to have good strikers in the team.”
Hazard’s future at Chelsea had been put into doubt shortly after the summer World Cup with Belgium after he admitted that it could be time to move on. However, he thereafter made the decision to stay put for the ongoing campaign and the move appears to have paid dividends with him already contributing five goals and two assists for the west London side.
“Meanwhile, Giroud managed to earn his Premier League start under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri and he seems “to have made the most of the opportunity with his excellent link-up play with Hazard. “As such, he could “now expect to command a regular role upfront and this could in hand hamper Alvaro Morata, who does not possess the same attributes of holding up play.
Chelsea have made the perfect start to the season with victories in the first five matches and this sees them top of the standings ahead of Liverpool on goal difference. The WestLondon giants previously made a similar start to the Premier League during the 2016/17 campaign.
