Cesc Fabregas has claimed that the 2-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday might be the springboard that Chelsea needed to get their campaign back on track.
The blues secured three crucial points that left them a couple of places above the relegation zone. It has been a disastrous start to the season by Chelsea, who have had only one victory prior to the game against the gunners. Even though they were certainly helped by the referee’s decision to send off two Arsenal players, Fabregas reckons that it was a hardfought victory that the team fully deserved.
The game also marked a return to form for the Spaniard, who has now scored a goal and assisted two more in the last two games. The form of players like Fabregas, Eden Hazard, and Branislav Ivanovic has been the main focal point at the start of the campaign. The blues take on beleaguered Newcastle United in the next league outing. The upcoming run of matches look decent enough for Chelsea and they will be disappointed with anything less than 15 points from the next five. Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazardscored the goals that secured Chelsea only their second win of the season from six games.
Fabregas is yet to score in the league this season. "I’m happy for the victory, that’s the main thing. We were on a bad run and now we are playing better, confidence is higher, we don’t want to stop here.We went into a bad run, every team has one in a season and hopefully we’ve had ours. We’ve taken off and we hope this is just the beginning of what will be a big season for us,” said the Spanish midfielder. Zouma’s form in the last two games – since replacing Terry – has been a major factor in the victories.
