AC Milan have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas amid the recent injury crisis at the club. The Rossoneri are already without Lucas Biglia and Biacomo Bonaventura with long-term injuries and this has intensified their search for a new central midfielder, who could be affordable during the winter transfer window.
According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri are understood to have already made contact with the representative of Fabregas and they are keen to push through a winter move rather than wait until the season close. The San Siro giants had initially planned to discuss a pre-contract with Fabregas when he approaches the final six months of his Blues deal in January, but their stance appears to have changed amid the recent bout of injuries which have hampered them.
Nonetheless, there appears no indication that Fabregas may leave the Blues during the New Year despite the restricted gametime during the ongoing campaign. The Spaniard had pretty much been a regular during his previous four seasons with the Blues but he has found himself somewhat alienated under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri this term.
Up to now, “Fabregas has yet to earn a single Premier League start for the Blues and he has been limited to just three substitute appearances under the new manager.“ Regardless of this, the former Arsenal man has regularly cited that he has no ambition of giving up on his Blues career but “Fa comeback appears far“ from happening at the moment with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ross Barkley, and Mateo Kovacic ahead of him in the pecking order for the midfield positions.
Meanwhile, Milan are deemed to have offered Fabregas a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months via his representative and it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard would consider the move when the transfer window reopens.
